For weeks/months now my house has been under “renovation” (well not really that dramatic) but basically preparing for a new baby means reorganizing a TON of things, getting rid of a TPON of things, and making ROOM for the little one!! One of my biggest tasks was to turn my old office into the nursery and move my office downstairs to what was only called a “sitting room” or little library… I painted, bought new furniture and am in the process of redecorating. It’s lots of work but SO worth it!

Knowing how to get clear skin during pregnancy is the first step to battling those hormonal blemishes. Unfortunately there are not a lot of acne treatments that are safe for baby, actually I can count on one hand how many, as opposed to the PLETHORA of skin care products out there that work wonders for our skin whilst not pregnant. The myth though is that there’s “nothing” you can do, and you’ll just have to “wait it out”. Talking to your doctor and/or dermatologist is one very important factor in helping yourself to look and feel better about your skin while you are pregnant (and while not!).

In my video I share with you my daily and nightly skin care regime that I currently use (writing this post I am 32 weeks pregnant). It is a slightly longer video (25 mins), but goes by fast when you’re interested and really WANT to learn. I am not saying I am a professional by any means, but what I have discovered and what I have to share I think can help a lot of women who feel that they are suffering with pregnancy acne.

Organic, natural and safe skin care is key, and there are certain things you do NOT want to use, and AVOID like the plague (retinoids, AHA’s, etc.) and I discuss this too.

I thought I’d share my NOTD as it turned out so pretty, and if you read my blog you’ll know that I have a lot of reviews of Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear nail polish. It’s hands down my favorite drug store brand.  With hardly needing more than 2 coats, the finish is always gorgeous and flawless no matter the shade.

I paired Lacey Lilac with my first ever Essence polish on my ring finger. The color is called Oh My Glitter from the Trend Edition collection (3rd from the left)! The formula is quite watery, so I actually added it as a top coat. It’s a purple high-gloss finish with pink sparkles. The brush is too wide for my liking, but I think it’s quite pretty and was hardly more than $2 I don’t think:)

Caudalie Premier Cru Review

Last month I received the new Caudalie Premier Cru La Creme antiaging treatment to try, and today I am happy to be here with my first impressions review for you!  If you aren’t already familiar with the brand Caudalie (although I’m sure many of you are) it is a high end, luxuruious skin care line formulated for all skin types, and best of all, it is natural and contains no parabens.

When it comes to investing in good skin care at my age I can say with confidence that I am on top of my game. Gone are the days when I’d just scrub, slap on the cheap stuff and rush right to the makeup.  Not at 32 years of age!  I take my skin care regimen VERY seriously and I have to say that my skin has never been happier in my thirties.  *Shock!*  Now if only I could go back to my 20 year old self and say “stay OUT of the sun”! lol  But in all seriousness, for a makeup junkie it’s important to have that fresh healthy base to work with, right?!

I have to say that one of the KEY ingredients that has changed my skin is hyaluronic acid, an ingredient that is found in the Caudalie Premier Cru La Creme. For over a year now I’ve been using HA.  Let me assure you, this is nothing to be scared of just because it has the word acid in it, and fact it’s a molecule that’s too big to penetrate through the skin, rather it “sits” on the skin and helps to plump it up and provide maximum moisturizing benefits and you can actually SEE the difference it makes!

Like many of you, I am already a fan of Caudalie. I use the Beauty Elixir on a daily basis. Sometimes multiple times throughout the day. I bought my first bottle from Sephora, just the little travel size for $18 that I keep in my makeup bag.  I also use it at night as a hydrating mist before I go to bed.  So when Caudalie asked to send me the Premier Cru I was ecstatic!  So let’s get down to it then shall we!

Premier Cru – La Creme 50 ml
This is a creme serum that is formulated to fight and reverse the signs of antiaging including wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and improve the texture, elasticity and overall look of the skin… all of which are very important for me and my skin.  I do believe it takes regular use and an entire regime to see a dramatic improvement in the condition of our skin over a period of 4-6 weeks minimum.  With just 4 weeks in, my first impressions with this product is that I have seen my skin look more radiant and plump. Fortunately  for me I do not have any wrinkles or real fine lines… yet;)  However, I am happy to be using something that contains ingredients that is defending my skin from what will inevitably cause these aging realities to surface one day! Thank you Caudalie!

Ingredients:

  • Premier Cru combines Caudalie’s three patented ingredients as well as a full list which can be seen on the website under “composition“
  • Resveratrol-Oleyl  - to help lift and firm the lipids
  • Viniferine  - to help brighten the skin
  • Polyphenols (antioxidant-rich grape-seed) to protect the skin against harmful environmental factors, and helps maintain an optimal level hyaluronic acid (my FAVE!)

What it does NOT contain:

  • Parabens
  • Sulfates
  • Phthalates

Does is have a fragrance?

  • Yes – a strong perfumed scent and one that I happen to love!

Black in the day can be a bit harsh, and it’s rarely a color that I ever use (besides mascara) even at night. I find it washes me out and with green eyes I find brown suits me better. If you haven’t yet gotten your hands on the new Urban Decay NAKED Basics palette then THIS, my friend, must be placed on your beauty wish-list. It’s worth every penny (ok dollar) and more!! I wasn’t sure I needed it when it first came out and there was all the hype around this new palette of 6 colors. I already own the classic NAKED and I kinda figgured I didn’t really need it…

However, after watching numerous YouTube tutorials, and reading countless NAKED Basics palette reviews online, I finally gave in and bought mine through Ulta.com for $27, one of my favorite online sites as you usually get a great sale plus a plethora of samples! Yay!

So let’s get to my NAKED Basics palette review and demo. You can watch me use it in one of my most recent YouTube “Get Ready With Me” videos. I’ll include it at the end of this review. I do not use every color. Not that I’d ever use 6 colors at the same time anyhow. I will tell you that ever since I bought this I have been using it almost every single day!

In the Basics palette you get 6 NEUTRAL shades… 5 of which are mattes and the 6th being a demi-matte (Venus). All of which help to create the most “basic” every day look, to a very glam smokey eye. Fans of Urban Decay’s Naked and Naked 2 know very well that UD makes some amazing eyeshadows, and Basics has nailed it once again in my opinion.


Sometimes with matte shadows people complain that they can look chalky. I have only one adjective for this palette: BUTTERY!!! haha! But seriously that’s how they feel on the skin. Smooth as butter, it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced in an eyeshadow before. Talk about luxury.

The 6 colors include:

VENUS – satin demi-matte champagne white
FOXY – creamy natural matte
W.O.S (Walk of Shame) – uber light pink matte
NAKED 2 – taupey grey matte
FAINT – hazle brown, very warm matte
CRAVE – deep black/brown matte

The embossed case is great too! It almost feels rubbery but it’s a metal case with a huge mirror. It’s perfect for travel too as you have all the basic (there’s that word again!) colors you need to create a day to night look.

Save yourself $5 and consider buying it from ULTA ($27) rather than Sephora ($35)… I was glad I did!

I don’t have a huge collection by ANY means of the word, but I think that it’s a carefully considered bunch;) Some classics for sure, but many that I’m missing, and of course all the indy polishes that are to die for.

I keep them all in a kaboodles train case, for now… I am going to be moving my office in the next couple of months, and with that room change comes new furniture (a makeover really) and perhaps a nail polish rack. I’m debating that one.

Some reviews have made note that the new metallics don’t quite give the same color payoff as the original tattoo formulas but that they do provide 24-hr long wear and are crease proof. So far I can agree! I do like to build a shadow over it, and also blend with other colors like in my tutorial I incorporated grey!
