Hi everyone!Sigma Makeup Brushes

It’s one thing to own makeup and then another thing to own the tools to apply it!

But let me assure you that you don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune on makeup brushes in order to get quality and functionality.  Some of my favorite brands are very affordable and feel AMAZING on the skin.

First though, what is it we look for in a makeup brush anyways?

Well let’s consider these priorities

  • longevity
  • ability to pick up the color
  • natural or synthetic fibers that are soft on the skin
  • affordability (or a price we are willing to pay!)

Curious to know what kind of makeup brushes are out there in terms of functionality? You’re not alone. Here’s a list to help guide you through:

  • lip
  • eyebrow
  • browbone
  • eyeliner
  • eyeshadow: base/blending/application
  • contour
  • highlighter
  • blush
  • powder
  • kabuki
  • primer
  • foundation
  • concealer
  • body
  • travel set
  • (and hair, LOL! jk!)

Now you don’t necessarily NEED one of each. Some may disagree with me.  You can double a brush for certain necessities though, and just as long as you rinse the pigment from the bristles you can use one tool for multiple purposes.

Another thing to remember isthat just like your face, you need to take care of the tools you use on it!  This means maintaining your brushes by cleaning them, storing/organizing them properly and protecting them from getting bent out of shape – literally!

So below is a list of some of the most coveted brands of makeup brushes out there. See something missing? Leave a comment below and I’ll be more than happy to add!

I think my favorite brush might be a MAC 217 or any big, fluffy & soft powder brush! I love finding affordable brands, too. Sonia Kashuk makes some great ones and ELF’s studio line brushes (mostly $3 a brush) are pretty great too for any beginner! Great post girl! XO
